Q: How many languages does your organization provide?
A: INoC provides interpretation & translation services in over 80 foreign languages.
Q: What's the difference between interpretation and translation?
A: Interpretation is the rendering of verbal messages from one language to another. Translation is the rendering of written messages from one language to another.
Q: What is the difference between consecutive and simultaneous interpretation?
A: Consecutive interpretation involves a relay in which one speaker says a few sentences, the interpreter interprets and the other speaker responds.
In simultaneous interpretation the interpreter interprets at the same time that the speaker is speaking, just a few words behind.
Q: Does INoC require interpreters to have received professional training in interpreting?
A: Yes. 97% of our medical interpreters are professionally trained. All interpreters are required to complete "Bridging the Gap", 40 hour nationally acclaimed medical interpreter training program of Seattle's Cross Cultural Health Care Program (CCHCP) offered under license by The Interpreter Network of Colorado (A program of Spring Institute for Intercultural Learning).
Q: How does INoC screen interpreters?
A: We have adapted a process for screening interpreters which we follow at each and every interview with prospective interpreters in order to maintain the highest quality standards:

2. Interview scheduled based on résumé

Q: What Code of Ethics do INoC interpreters follow?
A: All INoC interpreters are required to follow the Code of Ethics from the following source: National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care developed by the Standards and Training Committee of the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC), and was developed in collaboration with Cynthia E. Roat and the NCIHC's adhoc Code of Ethics Dissemination Committee.
Q: How does INoC provide long term quality assurance for interpretation?
A: INoC has a quality control process in place which includes feedback from a wide variety of professional resources. Interpreters are evaluated on their promptness, courteousness, professionalism, knowledge of needed vocabulary, communication skills, positive impact on the situation and overall rating.
Q: How far in advance do I need to call to schedule an interpreter?
A: We prefer 48 hrs or more if possible but will always try to work with you to accommodate your immediate needs.
Q: Do you provide interpretation on evenings, weekends and holidays?
A: Our office hours are 8:30am-5pm. Interpretation is usually provided between the hours of 7am & 7pm. Hourly rates are slightly higher for evening, weekend and holiday assignments.

Q: Are your interpreters native speakers of non-English languages?
A: Our interpreters are native speakers of languages other than English.
Q: Do you charge for canceling interpretation/translation assignments?
A: We ask that our clients give us a 24 hr courtesy notice for all cancellations. If you are unable to provide a 24 hr notice of cancellation, we will apply a one hour minimum fee for service for interpretations and bill for any translation work completed up until the moment of cancellation.
TRANSLATION
Q: What's the difference between interpretation and translation?
A: Interpretation is the rendering of verbal messages from one language to another. Translation is the rendering of written messages from one language to another.
Q: What is the difference between editing and proofreading?
A: Editing is done by a second professional translator – s/he compares the source language text and target language text and makes any necessary edits to improve the final work.
A: Proofreading is done by one professional translator and involves no other documents for comparison and is usually done after the text is formatted by a printer (who is not a linguist).
Q: How is translation priced?
A: Translation is priced on a per-word basis and includes editing of the document.
The price depends on the language being translated and the technical nature of the document as well as the deadline.
Q: What is a revision and how is it priced?
A: A Revision is the process of modifying a translated document in light of making its comprehension more fluid through correction of the documents content or simply by reading over the document to ensure superior quality. Revisions are priced on an hourly basis.
Q: I've never used a translation service before. What is the process like and what can I expect?
A: The process is very simple.
1. You send us the document(s) to be translated.
2. We give you a firm quote with a delivery deadline within 24 hrs.
3. We deliver the translated document(s) on the due date in the required delivery format.
You can expect the highest quality product & customer service from our staff in regards to your translation & interpretation needs. Q: What formats do you support?
A: We prefer all projects be sent in the following formats: (doc./ xls./ txt./ rtf./ pdf.)
Q: How will the translated documents be returned to me?
A: We return documents in the same electronic format we receive them in.
Q: Do you provide DTP (Desktop Publishing) services?
A: We are happy to accept projects that require formatting or desktop publishing but prefer to leave publishing to qualified publishers.
Q: What areas of specialization do you provide translation for?

Q: Are your translators native speakers of non-English language(s)?
A: Yes, our translators are native speakers of the non-English language and for more technical translations they have advanced degrees such as a Masters or a Doctorate in the field they specialize in.

Q: Do you charge for canceling translation assignments?
